Guancheng Family Fit Bar: A New Dimension in Social and Leisure Spaces

The inspiration for the Baoan - Guancheng Family Fit Bar came from the intersection of horizontal and vertical lines. Liu explains that these lines, no matter how they change, cannot intersect unless they cross each other. The intersection forms a lattice, which Liu sees as a communication platform. This concept is the heart of the bar's design, which aims to return to the essence of the whisky bar atmosphere and the appeal of the core culture, rather than the over-decorated "retro" whiskey bars commonly seen on the market.

Liu's design uses black and gold as the primary colors for the bar's decoration. Black, representing darkness, provides a sense of privacy and comfort, enabling patrons to relax and enjoy their time in the bar. The entire bar is lit with LED energy-saving lamps, reflecting Liu's commitment to energy efficiency and environmental protection. To maintain air quality, windows were built from north to south to allow natural air to flow through the space.

The design process for the project included market positioning and investment analysis, concept presentation, spatial layout, concept deepening, project construction, and post-complete user information collection. The project, which spans 300 m², was completed between May and August 2017 in the Baoan District of Shenzhen City.

The bar's design is not just about aesthetics; it also considers functionality. The lattice formed by the intersecting lines divides the space and defines human activity. This simple logical relationship creates a complex interpersonal space field, making the bar a perfect place for young adults to socialize and build relationships.

Despite the challenges of the long space with a large depth and the need for custom-made products to maintain the uniform style, Liu and his team, including Yingbin Hong and Shuangyi Hu, successfully completed the project. The bar has since become a must-visit location in Shenzhen, proving the effectiveness of Liu's innovative design approach.
